Mississippi uses its own form: Form 89-350

Mississippi employees give their employer Form 89-350, the Employee's Withholding Exemption Certificate, showing the amount of personal exemption they claim. If you do not file one, your employer must withhold based on zero exemption. The federal W-4 is not used for Mississippi.

Exemptions, deduction and rates for 2026

For 2026, Mississippi allows a $6,000 exemption for a single filer, $9,500 for head of family and $12,000 for married filers, plus $1,500 for each dependent, for age 65 or older and for blindness. The standard deduction is $2,300 (single), $3,400 (head of family) and $4,600 (married). Taxable income is taxed at 0% on the first $10,000 and 4.0% above that.
