Privacy Policy

W4Calc ("we," "our," or "us") operates w4calc.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. The short version: we collect very little, we don't sell anything, and your withholding calculations are never stored on our servers.

Calculator inputs — The pay amounts, filing status, and other details you enter into the calculator are processed entirely in your browser. We do not transmit or store your withholding calculation data on any server.

Email address — If you subscribe to our W-4 update reminders, we collect your email address and optional first name. This is stored securely via Resend (our email provider) and used only to send you the confirmation email and future update reminders you requested.

Usage data — We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymized data about how visitors use the site — pages visited, time on page, general geographic region (country/state level), and device type. This data contains no personally identifiable information.

Cookies — We use a single localStorage key (w4calc_pdf_unlocked) to remember whether you've confirmed your email subscription in the current browser. No tracking cookies are set. Google Analytics sets its own cookies per Google's privacy policy.

We do not use your information for advertising targeting, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating this service.

We use a double opt-in process — you must click a confirmation link in an email before you're added to any list. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email we send. We use Resend as our email delivery provider; their privacy policy governs how they handle data in transit.

We never sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.

W4Calc contains affiliate links to tax filing software (TurboTax, H&R Block, TaxAct). If you click these links and make a purchase, we may earn a commission. These links are clearly identified. Clicking them does not transmit any of your calculator data to those services.

Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe, at which point they are removed from our active list. We may retain a suppression record to prevent accidentally re-adding you. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' standard data retention settings (26 months).

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your email address from our list
• Unsubscribe from emails at any time
• Opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on

W4Calc is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
